~Cyber Monday!~
Good Monday morning! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Did you hit some of the Black Friday sales? For the first time in years I did not get out at the crack of dawn. Instead I tried to get the deals online and FAILED :( The items I wanted sold out instantly (apparently). Oh well. My attitude was that if it was meant to be, than I would get them. Shockingly we went to Target that evening and found one of the items we were wanting for our daughter. It had just been returned...Score!
We also celebrated my hunky hubs birthday yesterday. You have to love a man who offered to get out and try to get the items on my Black Friday list ALONE at 3 am! He went alone when our daughter was only a few months old and even did my mother's shopping for her! I know, I know I've hit the jackpot for a husband :) Thank you Jesus!
Today is Cyber Monday. I'm going to be posting a few deals as I see them today.
Happy Monday!

~The Playroom Tour~
Kelly's tour this week is of playrooms. Mini-me LOVES her playroom!
*This toy chest is 8 ft. long! I picked it up for $10 at a benefit sale. We re-upholstered it and it works great for that room. We were needing something to store the babies & gear in.
The sign over the window says "I am a dream come true" and she is!
This room is small with tall ceilings & a huge window. The natural light is really great! Rarely do we ever have to turn the light on.
What we've done in this room:
Painted walls
Painted trim
New Carpet
New window treatment (bamboo shade)
BEFORE:
*As you can see, all of those things had to be done! The previous owners had painted the room blue, attempted a cloud design on the walls & then attached foam clouds to part of the ceiling.
Have a blessed Friday!

~A Season of Giving~
This is a great time of year to bless a family in need. I've already started praying about who it is that God wants my family to bless this year. Last year it was a family of 5 that we prayed about and felt that the Lord was telling us to help them. A friend (thanks Jenn!) and I gathered up several bags full of groceries, toiletries & baby items and were able to truly bless a family during the holiday season. It was great! Giving to others is one of the very best feelings :)
I encourage you to help a family who is struggling during this season. Show them God's love by giving them everyday household and food items that will really impact their family. This is the season for giving. Some people think that you need to be giving gifts or don't bother. That is just not true. I firmly believe that any household food or toiletry item is often times a better gift than something from a store that they may not even use.
This is a great opportunity to get your children involved. It is so wonderful to explain to my legacy that we are doing "God's work" and blessing others because we are so blessed. You can help. You can make a difference. You will blessed for blessing others!
"Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you." ~Deuteronomy 16: 17
"A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor." ~Proverbs 22:9

~How to make FREE items into CHRISTmas gifts!~
This is the time of year that most of us start to feel the effects of Christmas shopping in our finances. I'm here to tell you today that there is hope! You can take everyday items you have picked up while couponing and make them into gifts. These types of items make great teacher or Sunday school worker gifts. It is so nice to be able to bless the people who make a difference during the holidays.
Items that make great Christmas gifts when in a cute package:
Coffee (with a cute mug from the dollar store)
Candles (take off the label & add ribbon)
*Another thing I do is add a monogram sticker to the glass portion and it instantly looks great! This will be a cute teacher gift once I add some red candy!
*I filled the glass container (purchased at a garage sale 2/.25) with FREE cough drops & the FREE Bath & Body Works lotion. This teacher and I recently talked about cough drops & her needing some, so that is not totally random :)
Air freshener plug-in
*I have been giving this gift to a friend who LOVES lavender. She would not purchase this type of item due to the cost, but LOVES when she gets it as a gift! Remember it is the value of the gift, not the price you pay for it.
Stationary items
*Back in August when all of the stores had their back to school sale, I got several stationary items for FREE. I've been saving them and plan to put together a bag full of writing/craft items for my daughter. She LOVES crafts, so these FREE items will be perfect!
I gave this to one of my daughter's teacher with a note that said "I hope that I bring you a Touch of Happiness today!" (Touch of Happiness is the scent...hard to see)
*Don't forget to ask for the plastic bag & ribbon at Bath & Body Works. It's FREE with purchase! It is not the most beautiful display, but it gets the job done. After all, I've never heard anyone say "I'm so glad they spent more on the wrapping than the actual gift!"
So, you may NOT want to give the FREE toothpaste or deodorant that you have gotten while couponing to just anyone! Ha! Totally understand that one :) However, if you are giving a relative or child a stocking why not fill it full of "favorite things". Everyone I know has a "favorite" deodorant, toothpaste, shower gel, hair product, etc. This is more for those of you with teens. I don't know a teen out there that isn't into hygiene products to some degree, this would be a perfect opportunity to introduce a few new items. Great for stockings!
Last year I gave my MIL a bag full of her "favorite things" which included several of my FREE items (shampoo, deodorant, dish soap, air freshener, etc). She loved it because I took time to pick her favorite brands and put them along with some other items (non-coupon items). It ended up being a really great gift. It had a much higher value than what I actually paid. Those are my favorite types of gifts to give!
I hope this post inspires you to think outside of the "normal gift package" and to realize that you can make the most of FREE items you have gotten while couponing.

~Organize Your CHRISTmas Budget!~
Today is all about getting your CHRISTmas budget & list organized. Who couldn't use some order in this department?
How many times have you bought someone a gift & forgotten about it until just before the holiday? Of course, by then you have already purchased them something else and then you end up spending & giving more than your budget allows.
There is hope! You all know that I like spreadsheets, so start one! You don't have to do anything fancy. You can even write it down on paper. Simply have a column for the following:
Name
Gift
Budget
Actual Spent
Overage
Here is an example:
Name: Jan
Gift: Make-up
Budget: $20
Actual: $14
Overage: $6
Don't fall into the "Well, I got it on sale...so I should keep spending". Stop thinking like that. Broke people operate like that. Consider the sale a financial blessing and stop shopping. Move onto the next person on your list.
If the item purchased is $25 and you have $35 budgeted, move that $10 into an overage category. That money can be put toward something else or better yet, SAVED.
By doing this spreadsheet, you will be organized and have a grasp on your budget & holiday spending. This way you are in control & are telling your money where to go.
Trust me, this works. It makes life a lot more simple too!
Blessed~

~Set Goals!~
We spent this weekend on a Couples Retreat with some friends from church. We had a blast! It was a time of reflection, fellowship and most of all fun! We climbed up mountains (that was a stretch for this beach girl!). I was a team player and managed to not hurt myself.
We climbed all the way up there! It was so beautiful!
I had previously written about spending money on life experiences, rather than stuff. Spending our money on experiences that bring us closer, make us laugh and that make memories forever is worth every penny. I love traveling and doing new things. This trip came at a perfect time as football season is coming to a close.
Life is super busy for everyone. Most people are overbooked and stressed. This weekend was a great reminder of how important is it to take time out from the daily schedules to relax and enjoy God's beautiful creations. We are able to go on trips like this due to the money that I'm saving my family by using coupons.
If you are just starting couponing, don't be discouraged. Couponing can be overwhelming at first. Honestly, it can be overwhelming after you have been doing it a while if you don't have a system in place. Stick with it! It is worth all of the effort put into it. I have been feeling overwhelmed the past month or so. This trip was a wonderful reward and reminder of why I love saving money!
Your family will be blessed by you saving so much money. Go ahead, start dreaming of where you want to go once you reach your savings goal. I believe that setting goals and having dreams are an important part of achieving success. Dream it, believe it and make it happen!
Happy Monday!

~Talk to your children about money~
"Mommy, guess what?!" (says mini-me)
"What?" (says mommy)
"I'm moving to a new house!" (mini-me)
"You are?!" (mommy)
"Yep, I'm paying CASH for it!!!" (mini-me)
"I'm so excited for you!!!" (mommy)
"How were you able to do it?" (mommy)
"I saved & budgeted my money." (mini-me)
I was smiling so big at this point. So proud of my little Sassy Saving mini-me!
Wow, to think that my newly 4 year old little girl gets it just makes me smile. I'm so glad that we talk to her about money at such a young age. I'm so happy that she doesn't think that debt is "normal" and that we set goals as a family. We have been talking to her about wanting to pay CASH for our next home. I just love that she is talking about it now. Imagine how exciting that day will be when we pay CASH for such a big investment?! Oh happy day!
It is never too early to start talking to your children about money. They are listening! Set goals with them. Make saving money fun for them!

~53 Days Until CHRISTmas!~
53 Days until CHRISTmas!
How is your budget looking?
Finding any great deals?
We are going to be doing CHRISTmas differently at our house this year. We are going to be having a Happy Birthday Jesus party! Our legacy will be getting 3 gifts and then a stocking. This will be a great celebration of the true meaning of CHRISTmas. We are so excited!
Why only 3 gifts?
The Bible says that three wise men travelled from afar on camels to visit the infant Jesus as he lay in the manger. They brought him 3 gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Will our daughter get more than 3 gifts?
Yes, but not from us. She will still get gifts from family members, etc. Don't worry...this is a very blessed little girl :)
I've heard parents say "My child would be so mad if they only got 3 gifts for Christmas!"
*My response is that if 3 gifts were good enough for Jesus, shouldn't that be good enough for us? Let's get back to the true meaning of the season.
Why do we always think that quantity is better than quality? I told my cute hubs that I am excited that we will be giving thoughtful gifts that will be special because we will be giving something that is desired, not just filler gifts to open.
Our Pastor & his wife have done this with their 4 children and it has been awesome! They did not feel like there wasn't enough "stuff". They truly celebrated the meaning of CHRISTmas. Most of my friends are going to do the 3 gifts this CHRISTmas with their families too. We all think it is going to be awesome!
My legacy is already wanting to know what kind of icing will be on the Happy Birthday Jesus cake! Love that!
Monday Blessings~
