~New Cooking Series!~

Cooking! That word either excites you, scares you, bores you or angers you. It is guaranteed to make you feel some sort of emotion! I'm going to be doing a series on different ways of cooking. I firmly believe that everyone can cook, you just have to find out what works for you. Hopefully, you will be inspired to try some new ways of cooking or to start. It is never too late to try!
The following is a guest post from a very sweet & adorable girl named Lindsey.

Cooking Group...There are four of us and we get together every 4-6 weeks at someones house. We take turns hosting the group and the host has the responsibility of choosing all the recipes, doing the grocery shopping, and completing any prep work that needs to be done (like chopping veggies, dividing things up for the recipes, and cooking the meat). When we get together, it only takes about an hour and a half to two hours and we basically just mix everything up and put it into foil pans. The host usually picks out four different recipes and, depending on the recipe, we triple them. All of the girls in my group are either newly married or single so any recipe that makes a 9x13 will be split and put into two pans. Multiplying the recipes is where we have the most problems! So for a recipe that makes one 9x13, we would triple it and it would make 6 pans of food. Does that make sense? For larger families, you could just keep the bigger portions. We always buy our pans at Sam's because you can get 30 for about $8. Each girl in the group usually takes home 6 or 7 pans of food and we divide up the grocery bill evenly. Most of the time we each pay about $26.

After all of the meals are divided up into pans, we cover them in plastic wrap and then foil. The name of the recipe, the cooking time, and the cooking temperature are written on the top so that you just have to pull it out of the freezer and cook it! I usually set mine out earlier that day so that it has a little time to thaw before I put it in the oven. I always use my frozen meals for a night off of cooking every week. I love that you can put it in the oven and then throw the pan away when you're done! One of the good things about the cooking group is that it gives us a chance to hang out and talk but we're also being productive :)
